Yes, I love frogs, but do you know why I love frogs? Because I find Rain Forests fascinating and frogs, such as the red eye tree frog (my personal favorite), live in tropical rain forests.

Wednesday-Bore Tide

On our way back from the Nature Reserve we stopped at Bird Point to see the Bore Tide. Do you know what a bore tide is? That's ok, we didn't either. :) Instead of the tide coming back in slowly, the bore tide is a large surge of water that comes across the coast like a wave filling in the low tide areas very quickly. It was neat to see. I guess it used to be much bigger before the huge earthquake in Anchorage. That earthquake deepend the basin in that area and caused the bore tide to be smaller, but they still say it can be anywhere form 6 inches to 6 feet high. Click here for more info.

We waited about 45 minutes because there is a half hour leeway time, and this one was a half hour later than the projected time. It was a little cold and rainy while we waited. Ok, it was actually FREEZING! :)
