Monday-Seward Glacier Cruise
Monday we drove three hours to Seward to take an eight hour glacier cruise through Kenai Fjords. It was awesome! We saw a ton of wildlife! We saw bald eagles, sea lions, seals, sea otters, whales (3 times), puffins (my favorite), other birds, and some very weird sea weed. We also saw the glacier calving which was an amazing experience. The scenery was beautiful.

Kelley,
What awesome pictures! That sounds like a wonderful trip! That's a really nice thing about being a teacher, huh? :)
The wolf would have freaked me out a little, I think. It is really amazing to think of this wild, desolate, empty part of our country versus the overcrowding of cities. It makes me think that the days of taming the west is not over! :) Most of our country is still unpopulated!

It was a wonderful trip! And yes, that is definately a perk of being a teacher. :)
Alaska is amazing. Its interesting to me that Alaska really is such a young state. They just built the road connecting Alaska to the rest of North America in something like 1942. That really isn't that long ago! And so much of Alaska is still unpopulated. Understandably so. It is just so fascinating. I bought a book about its history so I could read more about it. We watched a documentary on the history of Alaska at Matt's house one night. Very interesting.
