Yes, I love frogs, but do you know why I love frogs? Because I find Rain Forests fascinating and frogs, such as the red eye tree frog (my personal favorite), live in tropical rain forests.

My Final Summer Adventure

Just when I thought my summer adventures were over...we (Kevin, David Yanga, and Catherine Kurtgis, and I) decided to go camping!!! We went for one night (Thursday to Friday) though by the way we packed you would have thought we were going for a week. Its amazing how much stuff you have to bring for one night of camping!

If you keep up with Kevin's blog, you've already seen these (except for a choice few that he may have chosen to leave off). :)

We checked the weather before leaving and it was supposed to be warm and partly cloudy. We thought we were all set. But little did we know that the weather channel is not always right!

We got up there around 5:00. It was sprinkling, but we were in a wooded area, so it wasn't too bad. We were still able to build a fire. The guys decided they had to do it the "all natural" way, and much to our amusement they were able to accomplish it. Well, except for the fact that they used a lighter rather than sticks to start the fire. ;) But, it was mostly natural.

That night we cooked hotdogs and some great zuchini (thanks to David and foil). Then we walked to the Pinnebog river (which is a McFadden tradition). After that we pretty much just hung out around the fire for the evening. About midnight we decided to head to bed. We brought two tents up with us. The tent that the guys used was borrowed and unfortunately it didn't have a tarp over top of it. Can you guess what is coming next? Yup, it poured rain during the night! I woke up about a quarter to five from the noise and shortly after that I heard the guys talking and turning their light on. I guess Dave got pretty wet because the water kept dripping through then tent right onto him. Somehow Kevin avoided the water. Not sure how that happened. So, it was a long night for all of us, though a little longer for some. :)

Friday morning the guys decided, once again, to get creative, so Kevin went to the store and bought some sausage and eggs. They figured out how to cook the eggs and we had a great breakfast.

As Kevin said in his blog, we had a great view of the road. :) That's what happens when you make spur of the moment camping reservations. :)

On the way home, we decided to take the scenic route, so we came back down the right side of the thumb along the coast rather than the left side of the thumb (yes, I love living in MI-the state shaped like a hand!).

Yes, that would be one of the choice pictures he chose to leave off of his blog. ;)
