Yes, I love frogs, but do you know why I love frogs? Because I find Rain Forests fascinating and frogs, such as the red eye tree frog (my personal favorite), live in tropical rain forests.

Day 3 (Hike #2) - Maymere Falls and Lake Crescent

After the huge hike up Hurricane Ridge we headed over to Lake Crescent where we hiked through an old growth forest up to Maymere Falls and then we continued on to the Lake Crescent lodge where we chilled for a little while. We were "keeping it real" as Dave would put it. Oh, Dave also got an interesting book at the Lake Crescent Lodge. It is called Myths and Mysteries of Washington. There's an interesting story in it about the lady of the lake (the lake being Lake Crescent). We learned about saponification. Here's the short version...the lady was murdered and thrown into the lake, but because of the chemicals in the lake she was saponified (turned into soap), and her body was so well preserved that years later when the body turned up they were able to find out who killed her.

Lake Crescent and the forest...

We tried to find some fish, but all we found was this slug. Ewww! :)
