Day 2 (Part 1) - Lumbermill/Forestry Tour
Our first great adventure was the lumbermill and forestry tour. It was so cool! I found this tour Friday and we flew out on Sunday, yet thankfully there were still spots open for us to go. It was a 3 1/2 hour tour put on by the Forks Chamber of Commerce. Willard was our guide and he gave us loads of interesting information. And the best part of the whole tour...it was free. :)

Our first stop along the tour was an area where they had already cut trees and were beginning to clear the area. We got to see the clearning in action.

Then on our way down the mountain, I tried to take some pics out of the window, but it didn't work very well. I did get an interesting self portrait in the process. :) We also stopped for berries, and you can see that Michele really enjoyed them. :)

For every tree they cut down, they plan two new trees in its place. Here is a pic of some of the new trees that were recently planted.

Our next stop was a lumber mill. It was very interesting to watch the whole process. We also went to a cedar mill where they made shingles, but we couldn't take any pictures there.
