Saturday afternoon-The Arboretum (Part 1)

We began in the bonsai garden. Interesting, bonsai just means a tree in a very small pot. I thought it was a certain type of tree, but actually any tree can be a bonsai tree if its put into a small pot and pruned correctly. I don't remember the difference between the Japanese and the Chinese bonsai, but I remember that the American bonsai trees look sort of like forests. There can be driftwood added in for decoration. Maples bonsais are typically American as well.



This was the oldest tree in the garden. It has been "in training" since 1625! Amazing!
